Start your day with a delicious breakfast in Culver at Marshall County's famous Cafe Max serving the community since 1985. Famous for their sinful French Toast, classic breakfast entrees and so much more! There is no doubt you will leave with satisfied and ready to start your day!
After breakfast, just a short walk away, check out GG's Kiln, a new art studio that offers you the opportunity to glaze-paint your very own unique piece or shall we say "souvenir" of your trip to Marshall County. Culver offers a unique shopping experience on Main St. that you are bound to enjoy after you finish up at GG’s Kiln. There are different shops that you can enjoy on both sides of beautiful Main St. that you can browse till your hearts content. You can enjoy Civvies, Culver Academy Museum and Gift Shop, The Garden by Elizabeth, and One11 home to Flea Market Chic and Diva in Culver, all in walking distance. There are so many options to choose from all offering different shopping experiences that you will find that your afternoon will just fly by!
Lunch in Culver
After a few hours of shopping up an appetite, head over to Lakeshore Drive and enjoy a bit to eat and drink at Culver Coffee Company, an upscale coffee house-wine bar, and maybe even shop a little more! Another option you may like is Scotty’s on Main, a new addition to Main St. in 2021 offering delicious sandwiches, soups, salads and more! Take a seat and enjoy while you re-energize for your next adventure.
Lake Maxinkuckee Trails
Bundle up and head out and work your way over to the Lake Maxinkuckee Path where you can enjoy scenic views of Culver while enjoying the fresh air. You’ll get to see glimpses of Culver Academy as well as well as other areas of Culver you wouldn’t get to see if you were driving. Enjoy the 2.5 miles path with friends, family or buy yourself for some quiet time.
After your afternoon walk, head back over to Lakehouse Grille for dinner and drinks with a scenic view of Lake Maxinkuckee. Lakehouse Grilles is not only a great family dining option but it also has a full bar and it is full of history as it is decorated with lake memorabilia. If the weather isn’t too bad, you can enjoy the outdoor seating with heaters and electric fireplaces to help keep you warm.
Start your day of in Argos and enjoy some delicious breakfast at Loghouse Restaurant, a locally owned family restaurant that is known for it’s amazingly, delicious breakfast and lunch options as well as Friday dinner. Enjoy the small town atmosphere where you’ll feel like you’re at home but without the cooking and cleaning part.
Potawatomi Wildlife Park
After breakfast head down the road to Potawatomi Wildlife Park and get into nature and explore one of our county’s hidden gems! Plants and animals come first at this sanctuary that's a haven for hikers and birdwatchers. Boarded by the Tippecanoe River, it's made up of woodlands, fields, ponds, and wet-lands and is home to the state's first Dark Sky Preserve, designated a perfect place to view the sky at night without interfering light. The park, which encompasses 317 acres and contains nearly five miles of hiking trails, is also located near Benack’s Village which was lead by Osheakkebe, also known as Steven Benack. There is some awesome history that can be found at Potawatomi Wildlife Park. If that isn’t enough adventures for you here, , you can cross country ski on the trails as long as the weather permits it.
After a mid-morning adventure at Potawatomi Wildlife Park, head into Downtown Bourbon and grab a bite to eat at The Standard, a place for people of all ages to be able to enjoy. Grab some lunch then enjoy some hand dipped ice cream or a declious piece of homemade pie. Once you have satisfied your hunger, head over and check out the antique shop that is located just a few steps away on the other side of the restaurant. You’re bound to find some interesting pieces while you browse through.
Marshall County Historical Museum and Crossroads Center
Once ready to head out, meander on over to Downtown Plymouth and check out the Marshall County Historical Museum and Crossroads Center where you will find an abundance of local county history! There is a room that is dedicated to the Crossroads of America as well as different exhibits for everyone in the family to enjoy. There is a kid’s corner, a train room and even a sports room that displays sports within the county over the years. If genealogy is an interest, check out the Genealogy Department and see what information you might be able to find on any locals that may be part of your family history. Don’t forget to pick up a souvenir in the gift shop that showcases history in Marshall County in one way or another.
Dinner in Downtown Plymouth
After you’ve enjoyed time at the Marshall County Historical Museum and Crossroads Center, check out some of the local restaurants for a delicious dinner. The Brass Rail Bar & Grill is a locally owned restaurant that offers dinner and drinks in a non-smoking facility. Across the way you’ll find Pizza Bills a locally owned restaurant that is across the street and offers delicious carry-out pizza.
